Dr. Arévalo's research work will focus on determining the frequency of colonization of horses with third-generation cephalosporin (3GC) resistant E. coli and quantifying the impact of ceftiofur-use on the frequency of colonization with resistant organisms.

This research will involve animal and laboratory work related to developing an antimicrobial stewardship recommendation for equine practitioners in Western Canada.
